Almost half of Toronto residents live in apartments, condos and co-ops, but they recycle and compost only 27% of their waste compared to 65% of waste in single-family homes. In 2016, The Mayor's Towering Waste Challenge was launched to motivate building Property Managers, Superintendents, Owners, Boards, 3Rs Ambassadors and residents to improve waste diversion in apartments, condominiums and co-operatives.
