17-year-old Kelowna high school student's online petition to combat food waste has over 160,000 signatures.

The 'ask' of Justin's petition is that supermarkets and grocery stores be barred from wasting unsold but still edible food and instead (donate) it to charities such as food banks. On Oct. 16, he'll hand over his petition to Minister of Agriculture Lawrence MacAulay, and ask that grocery stores in Canada be required to donate all usable, unsold food to charity, instead of throwing it away or destroying it.
