When recycled, food and beverage cartons are sorted and shipped to either a paper mill or a manufacturing company. At a paper mill, cartons are pressed into reusable sheets of paper that go on to make paper towels, tissues, and other paper products. At a manufacturing company, caps and all are shredded and sent through a "panini" press where they are press melted.
