Niagara Region's Waste Reduction Week

In recognition of Waste Reduction Week, October 15 – 21, Niagara Region will be offering free public tours, hosting an information booth and holding a contest to educate residents about the importance of waste reduction. Niagara Residents will have the opportunity to learn what happens to their recycling and organics once they leaves the curb through a guided tour of the Recycling Center and/or a tour of the compost facility at Walker Environmental. Each Niagara resident will be eligible to pick up three free bags of compost in exchange for non-perishable food items or cash donations in support of local charities. There will be an outreach public booth at the Pen Center’s Waste Reduction Day event. Residents can learn more about waste management programs within the Niagara Region, and purchase Blue Boxes, Grey Boxes, Green Bins and Kitchen Catchers. In support of the Grimsby Benevolent Fund and Goodwill Niagara, Niagara residents can donate a reusable item to the Niagara Road 12 or Humberstone Reusable Goods Drop-off depot and receive a ballot to enter a draw to win a gift card.
