Reducing food waste at home is quick and easy and can help you save money and make your food go further. We often waste good food because we buy too much, don’t plan our meals, or don’t store our food correctly. In fact, it is estimated that avoidable food waste costs the average Canadian household over $1,300 per year.
The City of Toronto is working with the Rexdale Community Health Centre through the Urban Harvest Community Reduce and Reuse Program to deliver workshops on cooking techniques to reduce food waste in your home. Please join us for an interactive demonstration on how to prepare a tasty minestrone soup using a medley of leftover and surplus vegetables and other food from your refrigerator for Waste Reduction Week 2022. There will be workshops available in-person and virtually on October 20, 2022. Please see below for details for the In-Person Workshop. Please note that you must register in advance to attend.
