Open House: Materials Recovery Facility | Circular Economy Month | Waste Reduction Week in Canada

Open House: Materials Recovery Facility

Have you ever wondered what happens to your curbside recycling?

In the Eastern region of Newfoundland, curbside recycling is collected, sorted and bundled for new markets in the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) at the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility.

Come see what happens to your curbside recycling at the MRF on Sunday, Oct. 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet the staff and see the operation up close.

Did you know, since introducing mandatory curbside collection and a change to clear bags for garbage, we are collecting a sustained 25-30% more recycling over previous years? We are celebrating this and other achievements during Waste Reduction Week, October 17 to 23.

Come meet some of our partners in waste reduction at the open house, including:
Scotia Recycling (operators of the MRF)
MMSB
EPRA (Electronic Producers Responsibility Association)
ESRB (Eastern Regional Services Board)
Habitat for Humanity ReStore
Home Again Furniture Bank
Product Care (Paint Recycling)
