Georgestown Community Compost Launch | Circular Economy Month | Waste Reduction Week in Canada

Georgestown Community Compost Launch

The Georgestown Community Compost is a pilot project that provides composting infrastructure to neighbours while helping the City of St. John's towards climate action. We have three Joracan bins (http://joracanada.ca/en/joracan-ne401/) where participants drop off their organics at their convenience. The long-term goal is to replicate this program across the City to create jobs, social connections and healthier neighbourhoods.

This is an outdoors and free event, open to the public. We're inviting participants, organizations, municipal and provincial government representatives to take part. We'll talk about how the program works and how we all can work together to expand the community composting program across the City. We'll also have some hands-on demo, networking, and cake.

This pilot is an initiative of the Social Justice Coop of NL in collaboration with Stella's Circle and Planeet Consulting and funding from the Multi-Materials Stewardship Board, the City of St. John's, and Food First NL.
