We’re celebrating Waste Reduction Week from October 18 to 24, 2021. The theme this year is to make use of what we have or can source locally rather than buying new or shipping in. The buzz term right now is circular economy, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products for as long as possible. So in that spirit, the Solid Waste team is excited to be partnering with Cathy Miller and the C.O.A.T. Association to collect unwanted winter clothing and redistribute them to anyone in need across the community.
We challenge East Hants to purge basements or closets and donate gently used winter coats, snow pants/suits, mitts, hats and gloves of all ages and sizes. Please note that items with minor damage (e.g. rip, tear, broken zip) may still be repaired by the C.O.A.T. team and will be accepted at this event.
Can you help us to collect 500 items? Challenge your work colleagues or local sports team to help us meet our goal!
