L'organisation d'un évènement pendant la Semaine canadienne de réduction des déchets est une excellente façon d'engager votre communauté dans les 3R et la réduction des déchets. Toute entreprise, école ou municipalité ou tout individu peut inscrire un évènement pour la Semaine de réduction des déchets. Voici certains des évènements populaires : repas zéro déches dans les écoles et les bureaux, organiser une collecte de déchets (matières dangereuses, textiles, ou appareils électroniques), et visionnement gratuit de documentaire avec séance d'information.

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 to address the growing problem of e-waste and the increasing ‘digital divide’. All week the Environment Committee is hosting a variety of workshops at lunch and after school to raise awareness on how students can limit their waste in relation to food comsuption. Students will also create various daily challenges for the entire school population in regards to help reduce waste during the entire week in hopes that students will then continue to do so throughout the year and at home.
