Event description:
We're teaming up with Zero Waste Market (and others!) to bring you a great day of conscious shopping, featuring: + the most delicious (and ethical!) pastured meats and eggs + vibrant local produce + Canada-grown grains (from our neighbors at GRAIN) + an array of bulk dry goods + hostess gifts + so much more! Think, the great products you've been seeing at all the Zero Waste Market Pop-Ups, PLUS pastured meats and more! Coinciding with turkey pickup for our customers, this market is a great opportunity to grab all your Thanksgiving essentials before the big meal on Monday! Not to mention, a great excuse to come on down, check out the new retail space, and talk to us about all things food, sustainabilty, zero waste living, sustainable agriculture, and more! We're still piecing together the last couple of vendors, so keep your eyes peeled as more are announced. As with the pop-ups Zero Waste Market has held in the past, we're strongly encouraging all of you to BYOC (bring your own container/jar/cloth bag/any other creative transporter of food) to fill up on all of our local goodies. They'll have jars/bags for sale, as well as sanitized & recycled containers if you aren't able to bring your own. Accessible by: - Car (street parking available) - Bus (10, 17, 100, 480 - 5 minute walk) - Skytrain (Marine Drive Station - 15 minute walk) - Bike (ample fence parking) ------ Vendors: Urban Digs Farm At Urban Digs, we raise heritage pork on pasture and source other meat from hard-working, passionate local farmers who care as deeply about their animals as we do. We are committed to bringing you the highest quality meat and eggs from farms that practice sustainable agriculture and ethical animal welfare. Having our own artisan butcher shops allows us to buy directly from farmers, foster personal relationships, ask questions about how they are raising their animals, AND keep more money in the farmers pockets. This is key because even the most beautiful, sustainable, agricultural model in the world isn't truly sustainable unless it is economically viable. We spend time at the farms we source from and work closely with our farmers to ensure that the animals are being raised in a manner that is in line with their unique physiological needs and natural behaviours. Zero Waste Market Zero Waste Market is saving the planet one reusable container at a time! One of the biggest challenges we face as a society is increasing access to foods that are healthy both for us and the planet. There are more food choices than ever but we have no confidence in our food - where it comes from, who grows it, how it’s transported, packaged, or what it contains. Our mission is to cultivate a more sustainable food system by eliminating as much waste (food, packaging, energy, etc.) as possible. Not only do we aim to eliminate waste at the consumer level, but we also work with suppliers to reduce packaging and waste throughout the entire food supply chain.
